Event Description: Share the Future - Dynamic New Curious Kids' Discovery Zone by Curious Kids' Museum at the new Silver Beach WOW Attraction will open January 2, 2010! For children, for families, for the community, this latest news is for you! In our 20th Birthday Year at Curious Kids' Museum, 1989-2009, we are thrilled! Walk or drive by, and you'll be amazed at the progress being made on this unique place for children and families. Curious Kids' Discovery Zone complements the beautiful Whirlpool Splash Fountain set on a compass facing true north with its colorful water shows and the great Silver Beach Carousel with its 48 hand-carved wood figures and timber structure.

CK Discovery Zone is planned for children ages 3-14, with engaging activities from Water Tables and Towers to Climbing Walls, Rope Course, Virtual Reality and Traveling Exhibits.
Admission: All programs are free with the Museum admission of just $4 per person for ages 1 and up.

Event Description: The Andrews University Department of Music presents the operetta "Amahl and the Night Visitors" by Gian-Carlo Menotti (1911-2007) in celebration of Twelfth Night. There will be two performances: Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the Howard Center on the campus of Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan.

It's the story of a poor, crippled boy and his mother who unexpectedly receive a visit from three kings, Kaspar (slightly deaf), Melchior and Balthazar. During their brief stay in Amahl's home, a miracle occurs and Amahl is healed. The healing brings happiness with Amahl walking, running, hopping, leaping, and playing. Amahl ends up going with the three Kings on the rest of their journey to tell others about his healing.

Founders� Week Schedule of Events

June 21: Watch the beautiful weathervane go up on the Silver Beach Carousel roof. Installation is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Carousel from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Visitors who donate $1 to the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen will receive two tokens. Limit one promotion per guest. Doughnuts and beverages will be served. Carousel rides are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

June 22: Kiddies Day. Families can participate in games, take photos with Splash the Silver Beach Center mascot, listen to balloon storytelling by Michigan�s most famous professional stilt walker, eat hot dogs and enjoy special deals throughout the day. Storytelling times are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Carousel rides are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

June 23: PS Dump Your Boyfriend Live Music Concert. The evening�s live rock music and crazy fun starts at 6:30 p.m. A concert ticket is $10. Snacks and cash bar will be available. Carousel rides are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

June 24: See the Sand Pirate sculpt an amazing sand masterpiece throughout the day. Located under the shade of a tent, this artist will begin her work at noon. Stop by, see her creation and ask questions about her work. Carousel rides are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

June 25: Get the Hottest Ticket in Town! Five Emprees return to Silver Beach for a live show and dance. DJ �Rockin� Randy� Poole starts the night off at 7 p.m. Ticket price is $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Carousel rides are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Click here for more info about this event.

June 26: Beach Ball Mania. Bounce beach balls in the interactive Whirlpool Compass Fountain. See the LiveStatue perform on the Silver Beach Center boardwalk from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Take photos with Splash the Silver Beach Center mascot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ride the carousel and listen to the new band organ play favorite tunes from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

June 27: Founders� Brunch. Join the community in honoring the Drake family. Brunch will be served from noon to 2 p.m. There will also be a presentation by �Silver Sands and Golden Memories� author Daryl Schlender. Tickets are $15 each in advance only and may be purchased at the Silver Beach Center admission desk. Visitors can also ride the carousel from noon to 10 p.m.

Event Description: Audiences will enjoy a step back in time with the band Mockingbird celebrating the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. The concert will feature songs performed at this pivotal music and cultural event which took place in August of 1969. Mockingbird will include songs originally performed at Woodstock by The Who, Crosby, Still and Nash, Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Richie Havens and others. Audience members are invited to come dressed up like a hippie and join in the fun. Formed in the spring of 2009 Mockingbird is made up of Paul and Pat Hanks and John Tolhuizen. After its original performance of the Woodstock 40th Anniversary Concert, member John Tolhuizen noted, "I was surprised to see so many people, right up front, singing along, who still remembered every word."
