| The Courthouse Girls of Farmland (IN) is the First Friday Film at the Box Factory for the Arts |
| Seven Daring Seniors Take Off Their Clothes And Take Up A Fight in Courthouse Girls of Farmland Documentary |
| Opening Date: | March 5, 2010 |
| Operating Hours: | 7:30pm |
| Event Description: |
The documentary highlights events that began in 2005 over a fundraising calendar created to draw attention to the endangered historic courthouse. The models were two of the producers then 86-year-old mother and her bridge club friends most of whom were life-long residents of the region all posed supposedly naked behind replicas of the courthouse. The result: national media attention and cries ranging from geriatric soft-core porn to brilliant. Directed by Norman Klein, the documentary combines an up close and personal look at residents of the small farming community with humorous video montages as Klein struggles to put opposing views on camera. "I got interested in this project when I heard the word naked, says Klein with a laugh." But seriously, these women possess a love for life and courage that's inspiring. Add a gay couple, one of whom is Jewish, who became leaders in reviving this small Christian town and saving the courthouse, and you have a compelling story. |

| The Art of Beer Festival |
| Opening Date: | March 27, 2010 |

| Event Description: |
A variety of Michigan beer artisans will be on hand with samplings of craft beers for tasting enjoyment. Participating breweries include Bell's Brewery, Round Barn Brewery, Saugatuck Brewing Company, The Livery, and many more. Local restaurants will sell food tastes that make great beer pairings. As a complement to the evening's beer artistry, local artist Pam Kirkham will demonstrate her beer watercolor art. Ms. Kirkham produces unique, eco-friendly fine art by combining beer, leaves and vegetables with bottled beers, malt teas, specialty draft beers and watercolor pencils. Attendees will enjoy the high energy blues-rock of the JR Clark Band. Clark and his band have performed for WVPE Radio, the Three Rivers Harmony Festival, and the Kalamazoo State Theatre as part of the Budweiser Blues Series. Their blues repertoire includes,"Going to Chicago," "You Don't Know,"and "Last Call Boogie." Participants may also attend, for a small fee, special beer tasting classes led by Rick Cooper. Cooper has worked in the beverage and food industry since 1985. He currently consults in the USA and abroad for commercial and governmental clients. In addition, he conducts beverage tastings and seminars and participates in beer and spirits judging in the USA and around the world.
