| The Frailey Band Performs at the Box Factory for the Arts |
| Riversong Music Society presents Drew and Joy Frailey with their daughter Adrienne in concert at the Box Factory |
| Opening Date: | April 10, 2010 |
| Operating Hours: | 8pm |
| Event Description: |
The Frailey's show features familiar covers, as well as an equal number of original song-stories and pop ballads. Drew and Joy, who have been entertaining audiences since 1999, are quite pleased that Adrienne, a fourth-generation musician, is carrying on a family pastime as a full-time profession, since she graduated from high school in 2008. "She grew up having to listen to us, and now it's a privilege and honor to share the stage with her," said her father Drew, who teaches and plays guitar, bass, and mandolin. Mom Joy plays 6 and 12-string guitar, the Bodhran and performs vocals, both solo and in harmony. Adrienne's debut CD, Goodnight to the Stars, was named in the 2009 Top 40 releases chosen by WVPE-FM's "Back Porch" hosts Norm Mast and Al Kniola, who said, "Adrienne is a truly extraordinary talent. You just want to listen to her forever." Folk Alley Magazine's review said Adrienne was "displaying real depth as a singer-songwriter," and named her their Featured Open Mic Artist of March 2009. With over seventy songs to her credit, Adrienne has been hailed online as both "brilliant" (Wales) and "cool" (Chile). She recently appeared and recorded an hour concert for PMN's "Hometown Pickin" cable show in Kalamazoo, Michigan. |

| Opening Date: | April 18, 2010 |
| Operating Hours: | 2pm |
| Event Description: |
The veterans' organization Lest We Forget will have a book signing session of their newly-released "Wartime Memoirs, Volume 2" at the new Shadowland Ballroom near the Silver Beach Carousel. The book's subtitle is "Stories from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East". It is a follow up to the popular "WWII Memoirs of SW Michigan Veterans" released in 2008. The new book is 335 pages, featuring 93 stories of veterans and several stories from the "home front." All the authors have been invited to the session so they can tell their story and autograph them. This second book is in similar format to the first, also containing a CD with stories that are longer than 5 or 6 pages. Stories range in length from two to 75 pages. Congressman Fred Upton states that the second volume of veterans' stories provides a unique glimpse of the critical role folks from southwest Michigan have played throughout our nation's conflicts - from the Greatest Generation in WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, all the way to the War on Terror. |
