The Mickeys at the Box Factory for the Arts
The Mickeys, a Celtic Flair to Blues
Opening Date: August 16, 2008
Operating Hours: 8pm
Event Description: Meeting the Mickeys for the first time is like heading into a 90-mph wind. Passionate, driven and vibrant, Amy and Julie are the compelling musical force known as the Mickeys. Identical twins, this striking twosome blends Americana, Country and Folk music; creating a unique acoustic sound with unbeatable vocals. The Mickeys have accomplished some amazing feats in their career. They formed the record label (RiverBeat Music), co-produced and recorded two CDs, Finding Our Way and Walk Along, and secured nationwide distribution (Select-O-Hits)for the first record-without any assistance. The sisters co-wrote five of the eleven tracks and performed all vocals on Finding Our Way. Moreover, it's the vocals that shine on this freshman offering; bell-like clarity weaves with shimmering harmonies, creating a magic that is palpable.
"We both love our music and we love each other," says Amy. "We believe we can do this and do it with integrity."
Now, with the release of their second CD, Walk Along, the twins are excited to see what lies ahead on their musical path. The sisters co-wrote nine of the eleven tracks and performed all vocals. This sequel offering features the same breathtaking harmonies as their debut, with an added depth to the lyrical content.
"As we grow as people, our songwriting abilities will also grow. This CD says a lot about what we have been through in life and who we are," says Julie. As with their first CD, Walk Along showcases a wide variety of musical styles from a Celtic flair to the blues. The first Chapter in the Mickeys' book of dreams included a global press and radio campaign in support of Finding Our Way - which resulted in two European tours. Chapter Two unfolds with the release of their follow-up album Walk Along. The whirlwind that is the Mickeys rolls on.
Admission: Tickets are $8 general admission and $6 for students and seniors (60+).
