Hunting

The woods and fields of Southwestern Michigan are teeming with wild game. All you need is a Michigan hunting license and permission from the landowner to hunt on the property. Limited hunting is also permitted at:

  • Crane Pond State Game Preserve, Cass County
  • Dr. T.K. Lawless Park, Cass County

Popular hunting seasons include:

  • White-tail Deer: Bow & Arrow Oct. 1-Nov. 14; Dec. 1-Jan. 1
  • White-tail Deer: Regular Firearm Nov. 15-30
  • Cottontail Rabbit: Sept. 15-Mar. 31
  • Squirrel Sept 15-Mar. 1
  • Ruffed Grouse Sept. 15-Nov. 14
  • Fall Wild Turkey Oct. 5-Nov. 14
