Event published by Box Factory for the Arts
Matthew Ball, aka “The Boogie Woogie Kid,” will perform Sunday, May 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Box Factory for the Arts, 1101 Broad St. in St. Joseph.
Ball presents an upbeat program of New Orleans songs, boogie-woogie piano, and swing-era favorites like “In The Mood,” “It Had to be You,” “Georgia,” “What a Wonderful World,” “Bumble Boogie,” and many more. His performance embodies a toe-tapping piano athleticism that captures the spirit, fun, and tradition of a celebrated American music heritage.
"Matthew had heads bobbing, toes tapping, and tushes wiggling, leaving you in awe as his fingers flew across the keys!" reported the Saginaw News.
With five million YouTube views and performances throughout the U.S. and abroad, the Boogie Woogie Kid—a lifetime Metro-Detroiter—has distinguished himself as an internationally recognized practitioner of classic American songs.
