Unlocking the World of Cannabis: A Conversation with Katie Lindgren from Green Stem Provisioning

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Katie Lindgren, the PR manager of Green Stem, to delve into her journey in the cannabis world.

Q: Katie, thank you for joining us today. Can you walk us through the origins of Green Stem and how your journey in the cannabis industry began?

Katie: Absolutely! The story of Green Stem started with a desire for change and a passion for cannabis. Back in 2017, my husband and I, along with our family, found ourselves at a crossroads in our respective careers. We saw an opportunity in the burgeoning cannabis industry, and after applying for a license in Michigan, we were fortunate enough to be awarded a license for Traverse City, Battle Creek, and Niles. From there, it was about finding the right community to call home, and Niles stole our hearts.

We established Green Stem as a vertically integrated business, encompassing retail, cultivation, and processing facilities. Our other business, Sticky Mitten, is an integral part of Green Stem's offerings, bringing top-tier small-batch CO2-extracted oil products to the market. The CO2 extraction process uses an all-natural solvent to produce a high-quality, clean product without the use of any harsh chemicals.

Beyond the business aspect, we were driven by a deeper mission – to educate, to give back, and to honor the legacy of those who paved the way in the cannabis business before us.

Q: Green Stem prides itself on being a welcoming space for both experienced cannabis users and newcomers alike. Can you tell us about the ethos behind your approach to customer experience?

Katie: At Green Stem, we believe in creating an environment that is not only comfortable but also deeply rooted in the culture of cannabis. As avid consumers ourselves, we understand the importance of feeling understood and supported when navigating the world of cannabis. That's why we place a strong emphasis on listening to our customers, understanding their needs, and providing tailored recommendations based on their preferences and goals. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or a first-time user, we're here to guide you every step of the way, without any corporate rhetoric or pressure to make a sale. Our budtenders do not have sales quotas to fulfill. We are focused on finding the right product for the consumers' needs.

Q: Your menu boasts a diverse range of products, from traditional flowers to innovative edibles and concentrates. How do you educate customers about the different options available to them?

Katie: Education is at the core of what we do at Green Stem. We recognize that the landscape of cannabis can be overwhelming for newcomers, which is why we strive to empower our customers with knowledge. From explaining the differences between Sativa, Indica, and hybrid strains to diving into the nuances of cannabinoids and terpenes, we aim to demystify cannabis in a way that is accessible and informative. By understanding the unique properties of each product, our customers can make more informed choices that align with their preferences and desired experiences.

Q: For individuals considering trying cannabis for the first time or visiting Michigan as cannabis tourists, what advice would you offer them?

Katie: For first-time users, I always recommend starting low and slow. Whether you prefer smoking flower, vaping, or trying edibles, it's important to find the right dosage and consumption method that works for you. As for cannabis tourists visiting Michigan, I encourage them to explore our diverse menu of products and take advantage of our state's breathtaking natural beauty. Whether it's birdwatchinggolfing, or simply enjoying a day at the beach, there's something for everyone to experience while incorporating cannabis into their journey.

Q: Finally, what message would you like to convey to those who may still hold reservations or misconceptions about cannabis?

Katie: To those who may still harbor reservations or misconceptions about cannabis, I urge you to approach with an open mind and a willingness to learn. Cannabis has the potential to offer relief, relaxation, and joy to countless individuals, and it's our responsibility to destigmatize its use. Through education, compassion, and empathy we can bridge the gap and foster a more inclusive and understanding community. At Green Stem, we're here to support you on your journey toward wellness and exploration, one step at a time.
